You could be mistaken for forgetting about the Huawei Mate 10 with all that has been happening in the Android world in the past 48 hours. After seeing the price of the Pixel XL 2 many are looking for other options and the Mate 10 could be one. Today we have seen it be photographed out and about in the wild following some screenshots that leaked earlier in the week.
Courtesy of our favourite Chinese leaking site, Weibo, come some pictures of the Mate 10 Pro being used in the wild. The photo does not really give much extra information over what we already know but it confirms that the renders we saw earlier this week are legit.
The photos show very small bezels, on-display navigation buttons, a dual rear camera along with fingerprint sensor on the back and a very shiny back cover. The back cover being shiny doesn’t match with the renders which look very matte but that could just be a trick of the lighting, or the Mate 10 Pro user may have had a plastic coating on the back.
The renders that leaked earlier this week were from our favourite leakers, Evan Blass and Slashleaks. Both leaks are consistent with each other and show a stunning blue colour, a brown and a grey. The bezels on all sides are extremely small but still look comfortable to hold. Interestingly the shadows give the appearance of a small curve on the edge of the display — not an Infinity Display curve but more like a 2.5D curve.

The Huawei Mate 10 Pro is expected to arrive with the Kirin 970 chipset which houses its own AI hardware onboard. It is thought to also have a f/1.6 dual rear camera and an 18:9 AMOLED display with 2K resolution.
The Mate 10 Pro is being positioned by Huawei to go directly up against the Note 8, the iPhone X and the Pixel XL 2. Whether it is priced at those levels remains to be seen but with many baulking at the extravagant prices for those it could well be Huawei’s opportunity to make inroads into the high end market in Australia with some aggressive pricing. It is a great looking device and promises to bring a great experience with its updated EMUI 6.0 software. All will be revealed in Berlin on October 16.
Would you consider the Mate 10 or Mate 10 Pro for your next device in the face of all these expensive high end phones on the market?
Im super excited for it, had a note 7 last year after its unfortunate incident i decided to switch things up with the mate 9, & it was honestly a better phone then the note 7, so eagerly waiting for what the mate 10 can provide
The good thing is you have choices re the Mate 10. If the pro is too Exxy the std Mate 10 will be cheaper.
Huawei are super excited about the Pro and I get the feeling that they think that this is their break-out moment where the general population starts thinking of them as high end phone manufacturers
The only thing putting me off buying a lot of these phones is their skin, just give us a pure Android version!
Sensible thoughts. Imagine this with Pixel software. BUT EMUI has been getting better and apparently the new EMUI 6 is even better… time will tell .. we will have hands on very soon as well as review units so expect to hear all about it from us…
If Huawei are listening, I’ll have a Blue Mate 10 Pro review unit please 😀
the market for ultra premium smartphones is not big enough for 4 brands, the price range will likely be $700-$900 giving their pass products and recent high-end products pricing
