The launch of yet another YouTube Music Service, called Remix, won’t occur this month as previously rumoured says a new report from Variety.

According to the rumoured report from late last year, YouTube Remix, a new premium music service that was said to be looking to compete with services such as Spotify and even Apple Music, was set for a March launch, possibly at the SXSW event in Texas.

The SXSW festival, which runs from March 9th and the 13th in Austin, Texas, will see YouTube’s global head of music Lyor Cohen speak at the event, which would have been a perfect opportunity to launch a new service. That won’t be the case however, with a YouTube spokesperson denying this would happen saying in a statement to Variety:

It was never our plan to launch at the festival.

This statement essentially confirms they are working on the new service, but brings us no closer to an actual launch of the service. It could launch at Google I/O in May, or could be held back until their Made by Google event which should take place in October.
