The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is expected to be announced in little over a month, and it appears Samsung is lgetting their ducks in a row, running the phone through the FCC this week. The phone is also expected to come with an improved S Pen according to a new rumour.
The FCC entry shows a phone from Samsung with model # SMN960F, which is believed to be the international model of the Galaxy Note 9 – the Note 8 international model was SM-N950F. The test report also lists the SM-N960F/DS) and SM-N960X as variants of the phone.
As with most devices running through the FCC, there’s not much information on specs, though we can see that the phone has Bluetooth and dual-band Wifi on-board, though that’s no surprise. The SAR report shows that the phone will be compatible with all our LTE and 3G bands – but again, that’s no surprise.
In terms of what else we can expect, when announced, the Galaxy Note 9 is also expected to be rocking an improved S Pen, at least according to leaker Ice Universe who said in a tweet:

Exactly what a ‘pen with a soul’ is isn’t clear, however there have been unsubstantiated rumours of the S Pen being updated to use Bluetooth. Exactly what it would be using Bluetooth for has never been clear, perhaps it could be used as a headset. This use of the stylus as a Bluetooth headset was previously used by the Asus Padfone a few years ago, but it never really took off.
The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to either be announced at an event in New York on August 2nd, or August 9th. We’ll likely see more leaks in the lead up to the launch.
The pen is all screen with no notch and a camera.
