Amazon Alexa has a massive amount of “skills” that allow users to interact and get information from Alexa. Unfortunately many of the skills are geoblocked from our shores, even though we can now officially buy an Alexa device here. Today Nickelodeon have introduced the SpongeBob Challenge skill to Australia, the first international market to receive it.
Using the Alexa app or saying “Alexa, start The SpongeBob Challenge” parents (or children) can start the skill. The SpongeBob Challenge recreates the sounds and environment from Bikini Bottom, including over 70 unique characters and 80 challenges over 25 levels. It is aimed to help kids with their memory, verbal skills and listening comprehension.
In the skill, the kids will be working at the Krusty Krab and answer (take orders) questions from the characters included in the challenge. The memory game makes kids repeat orders of increasing complexity from the characters to the “other workers” at the Krusty Krab.
It is great to see companies expanding their skills into the Australian market: hopefully more follow suit in the coming months.
