All is quiet on the Western front. Well, it has been for the past few weeks with Google delaying the July security updates until today. Today they have released the Factory Images and OTA update files for supported Nexus and Pixel devices to include the July security updates.

As you would expect with the quiet month the security bulletin doesn’t contain any standout features, adding patches Common Vulnerability and Exposures (CVEs) reported or discovered in the past month. The CVEs cover the Kernel, Framework and Media Framework, as well as hardware patches for various components.

TheOTA files and Factory Images for supported devices have been also released by Google and can be found at the relevant pages if you are so inclined. You could also hit the check for update button in the Settings menu of your device.

This month there is only one functional updates for the supported devices – a connectivity patch:

We have seen the update arriving on our Pixels here at Ausdroid so keep an eye out for it or if you want visit the OTA page or the full factory image page and grab your requisite file and flash away.

Even though Samsung does not do regular updates, there are more features being released than Google is doing these days. The goodlock app released recently by Samsung is so full of useful features that I enjoy on day to day. Google is only doing security updates which though important are pretty much boring for users.

odd, i got the July update OTA for my 5x back on July 3rd… i didn’t notice that the date said July 5th
Build number appears to match with whats listed on the developers site description.
Might have held back publishing them all for some reason (or one device) but maybe allowed for updates to be pulled down for the rest if requested???

Both my nexus phones received the update on July 3rd.
