Huawei have had a great couple of years, continually increasing their sales and shipments of smartphones to a point where they now comfortably sit at number two on the list. This year’s P20 Pro has been lauded by many, including us, and they are looking to bring not just the successful innovations from the P20 Pro to their next flagship but also some new additions.
Overnight there has been a leak in the manufacturing chain and also within a leaked firmware for the Huawei Mate 20 (assuming they will call it that) that details a few of the specs which are improvements over that installed within the P20 Pro.
The folks at XDA Developers managed to get their hands on a leaked firmware for the Mate 20 which revealed that it will run the new 7mm HiSilicon Kirin 980, rumoured to be releasing it IFA just as the 970 did last year). They also found evidence of the presence of a 4200mAh battery with wireless charging, a 6.3 inch (notch presence unknown) although earlier leaks have pointed at it having a massive 6.9 inch OLED panel just as the Honor Note 10 has, and 128GB of onboard storage paired with 6GB of RAM.
Interestingly they found some details of the presence of an in-display fingerprint reader and an upgraded camera system from the Mate 20 to the Mate 20 Pro. This was confirmed overnight by a Chinese supplier to Huawei.
Someone in a Chinese supplier which sits in the manufacturing chain of the Huawei Mate devices has revealed more details of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. Both phones will have the Leica triple camera system although only the Mate 20 Pro will have the P20 Pro’s combination of 40MP, 20MP and 8MP cameras. The Mate 20 will have a 12MP, 20MP and 8MP triple camera system. The cost of the lens in the Mate 20 Pro has apparently dropped from US$60 to US$40, which probably explains why Huawei are also going for a triple camera in the Mate 20.
Apparently the Mate 20 Pro will also support integrated “3D structured light and offline fingerprint unlocking technology” (under display), 40W fast charge and will run their new generation of EMUI, EMUI 9.0.
With it still likely being a couple of months away from the Mate 20 Pro announcement we expect a lot more leaks to be arriving before then. Stay tuned as the Mate 20 Pro seems to be taking the P20 Pro ball and running with it.
I hope they keep a version with the touch home button on the chin, its the reason I bought the mate10 and think its one of its best features.
I like the direction this is taking , bigger display and bigger battery 👍👍👍👍👍, i look forward to the day when we see a flagship power users phone with 5000 or 6000 Mah battery .
Battery size wars bring it on !!!
