The rumoured Google Smart Display has surfaced overnight, with a render showing the front and rear of the tablet-like device and there’s some specs and pricing available as well.
The Google Home Hub as it will be called, will have a 7-inch display, with a rather solid bezel around the frame of the screen, though no camera appears to be present for video video conferencing.
There appears to be a speaker on the rear, covered in what looks to be the same acoustically transparent fabric as on the Google Home Mini and Home Max. Also shown on the rear is the physical mute button to allow you quick access to mute the microphones and allow for some privacy.
Additional specs include Bluetooth support, dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi with ambient light and colour sensors built-in and it weighs in at 480g.
The Home Hub is shown off in the Chalk colour option we’ve seen offered in the Google Home Mini and Home Max, but a listing for a Charcoal option was also found.
The pricing and availability for the Home Hub has been tipped by Android Authority as being ‘available later this fall for $149’. Google hasn’t traditionally had a global rollout for their Home related speakers so you can likely expect a delay on an Australian launch. The pricing of USD $149 translates to roughly AUD$206 but this will likely be fine-tuned by the Australian launch.
We’ll see a lot more of the Google Home Hub on october 9th at the Made By Google event, and we’ll hopefully know more about availability soon after.

Any localisations would have already been done for the Google Home. The Home Hub looks very interesting, and apparently cheaper than alternatives. Could Google be subsidising the price, just to boost the platform, like it does with the Home Mini? I agree with your statements, however the Lenovo Smart display has not released in Australia yet, i have been looking to buy one for our kitchen, but Lenovo Australia has no time frame, as someone who is fully in the google home ecosystem having three home minis, one home, and a home max, i and my family really enjoy the google assistant, and what it can do, however i would like google to have the abilities of the devices to be the same as the US, simple things like the star wars trivia game for example, is not available in… Read more »
