Update:…and they’ve removed the page. We still know they’re coming soon though so keep en eye out.
Lenovo’s Google Assistant powered Smart Displays are coming to Australia next month, but while we haven’t seen any pricing or dates as yet, you can sign up to be notified when they do arrive.
The Lenovo Australia website has a landing page for the Smart Diplays, offering a run down of the specs and features for both devices. Lenovo is offering an 8″ model with 1280×800 resolution display, and another with a 10.1″ 1920×1200 resolution display. Both Smart Displays are powered by a 1.8GHz Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM and come with 4GB of on-board storage. A 5MP front-facing camera (with a manual cover switch for privacy), dual microphones and a 10W speaker are included allowing for video playback or video conferencing with Google Duo.
Functionality offered by the Smart Displays include more visual responses for Google Assistant including seeing Cooking demos, the weather forecast and your Google Photos feed and lots more. You can also watch YouTube videos on the Smart Displays, making them a great entertainment device. We got a hands-on demo of the Smart Displays at Mobile World Congress earlier this year:
Lenovo has priced the 8″ model at $149.99 while the 10.1″ display is selling for $229.99 but we strongly suspect there will be some changes to this pricing for the Australian market.
While Lenovo was the first to launch Smart Displays they’re not the only ones in the market, with JBL about to launch their Link View Smart Display in Australia later this year as well. Google is also about to launch a Smart Display – called ‘Home Hub’ at their Made By Google event on October 9th, though based on previous launches of Home speakers we don’t expect it to be available in Australia any time soon.
If you do like the look of the Lenovo Smart Displays and want to be notified when they go live you can head over to the Lenovo Australia website and scroll down to the bottom and enter your details.
Hi
I have purchased a Lenovo smart display from US.
It powers up fine as it has universal voltage converting from US 110 volts to AUS 249 volts main power.
I purchased a cheap plug adaptor to allow US two pins to adapt to AUS three pin
Unfortunately I got a message saying that wifi from devices purchased in foreign countries ie US may not be compatible with AUS wifi.
Does this mean I need an indigenous version of chrome cast to connect the Lenovo to my wifi?
Best
Jack
“Lenovo has priced the 8″ model at $$149.99 (or around $0 AUD) while the 10.1″ display is selling for $$229.99 (or around $0 AUD) but we strongly suspect there will be some changes to this pricing for the Australian market.”
Yeah, I suspect they will be charging more than $0AUD too!
Are you able to stream more than just youtube to these? Arlo cameras too?
Whoops, fixed that code up. Definitely more than $0.
You can stream Nest cameras to them. Not sure about Arlo cameras
I like the look of these Lenovo doovers , I can see at least a couple of the 10 inch models in my house .
