After improving support for parents to control the content their kids see on YouTube Kids last month, Google has started adding in support for YouTube Kids on Smart Displays, Google Home and Cast TVs.
The service is the third officially supported service in Australia, joining Netflix and Stan in the Videos and Photos menu in Settings in the Google Home app. You’ll be given a chance to link your account to YouTube Kids, with the linking process fairly easy and straight forward.
The YouTube Kids content can also be restricted using the new Digital Wellbeing controls which have begun rolling out now, letting you really restrict what your kids watch on YouTube. The parental controls introduced by YouTube for YouTube Kids last month allow for restriction to just selected channels and with the new Home integration and Digital Wellbeing, now you can control when they can view the content.
It’s apparently not being seen by everyone just yet – though I have it on my account now on two devices- so keep checking back to see if it appears.
Finally I can make a routine to entertain/shut up the kids without screwing up my YouTube recommendations!
