Google may be divesting itself of Allo, but their video chat app Duo which it launched alongside is moving ahead with new features including a new video message feature.
Google Duo has been letting you send the equivalent of a video voice mail to someone who doesn’t pick up since March, but starting this week you can simply record a video from the home screen, then send it around to multiple recipients in your contact list.
Announced in a Tweet this morning, the setup appears pretty simple
Rolling out this week on #GoogleDuo, you’ll be able to send a video message with a couple of taps – just in time for spreading that holiday cheer → https://t.co/DtDoiCpriL pic.twitter.com/pnEtLklAJQ

The update hasn’t begun rolling out as yet, as the Tweet says it should be some time this week, but it looks like the perfect tool to send a video message around on Christmas morning.
I wonder if this works with the new smart displays. I guess it must.
