Samsung’s naming strategies often leave us scratching our heads, so this shouldn’t be too much of a surprise: don’t expect to see a proper, high end Galaxy Tab S5. The company is moving onto generation 6.
Revealed by Evan Blass on Twitter, it appears Samsung has decided “e” stands for “enough” and likely won’t release other devices with the Tab S5 moniker.
Samsung introduced the Tab S5e earlier this year, a high-midrange tablet rather than the premium powerhouse that the Tab S line usually represents. It appeared alongside the Galaxy S10e, making us feel that the “e” stood for “everyone”. Thus, it’s been a while between premium tablets for Samsung.
With this reveal, it seems likely that the new flagship tablet spotted last month powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 with 6GB RAM will end up the Galaxy Tab S6. That launch date is open to question, though it seems unlikely they’ll add it to next month’s Note 10 launch – perhaps we’ll see something at IFA.
