The fitness tracker that is a household name is the Fitbit. They purchased Pebble a few years back and moved into smartwatches with a fitness tracking focus. Their most recent iterations of the smartwatches are the very-Pebble-looking Versa smartwatches and the next one looks to be another step forwards according to a leak overnight.

Everyone’s favourite leaker, Evan Blass, has overnight shown off renders of the next Fitbit Versa and they actually give quite a bit away. The first image shows an Alexa symbol with it waiting for input meaning that their is a voice control microphone onboard somewhere. Even with the microphone it appears that once again it will be water resistant to 50 metres as shown in the second image.

The second image also shows that the new Fitbit Versa will arrive with an AMOLED display, NFC for Fitbit Pay, Purepulse heart rate and be made of aluminium once again. The smartwatch looks to be set to arrive with the cloth or woven watchband option along with the plastic version once again. It will have just a single button on the left hand side of the watch with the right hand side bereft of any buttons this time and will be available in at least two colours with a silver and rose gold version shown in the leak.

It is unclear when Fitbit will release this smartwatch but we expect it to arrive before the end of the year just in time for Christmas. Hopefully, for those of us Assistant rather than Alexa users, Fitbit are also working with Google to bring Google Assistant to their smartwatches and that is also included when the smartwatch is released.

We will be keeping an eye out for this smartwatch’s local availability and pricing so stay tuned for that one. Out of interest, who here would use a Fitbit over another branded smartwatch such as a WearOS or Samsung Tizen smartwatch?

I hope it’s bigger than the current Versa….screen is way too small..
