While Google has never bothered to release a Wear OS device it seems some of their partners are more than happy to keep investing in the platform. Misfit (a Fossil company) has announced their latest Wear OS Smartwatch this week, the all new Vapor X.
Surprisingly the Vapor X doesn’t seem to be based on the Gen 5 Fossil platform with the new device sporting a round display in a 42 mm case, Snapdragon 3100 Wear Processor, 512 MB of RAM (yes no 1 GB of RAM), 4GB of internal storage, Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC, Heart rate sensor, and Magnetic Charging with “Rapid charge”. Being a fitness first brand the Vapor X is of course water resistant and has been certified for shallow swimming for 10km.
The device features a 3 button set up with the middle button looking to be a digital crown for easier navigation. The Vapor X boasts two day battery life in battery saver mode or 24 hours in standard mode. It will of course be running the latest version of Wear OS and coming with all of the now standard features such as Google Pay, Google Assistant, Google Fit and the Wear OS ecosystem of apps.
Misfit has a good track record of selling their devices in Australia through electronic outlets such as Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi so we’re hopeful that the new Misfit will arrive here too. The device is available for purchase in USA right now in selected colours for US$279.99 which would make it come in around the $430 AUD price range if and when it lands here.
Could have called it the Vapor Wear 😉
lol, the first vapor Ware to actually exist! that’s so good we’re tempted to change the headline!
