Through official channels the Huawei Watch GT was never available here but it was given away asa “free gift” and some importers also sold it. Here at Ausdroid after a short learning curve we loved it and consider it one of the best Android-compatible wearables on the market.
Now the Huawei Watch GT 2 press images have leaked and once again it is not running Wear OS. The watch has been spotted running through various FCC-type databases in preparation for a release which may come in the next week or so at IFA.
Running an operating system of Huawei’s creation the Watch GT 2 will apparently be thinner and will also have a larger display with smaller bezels — who doesn’t want all this in a second generation smartwatch? These comparisons have come from Roland Quandt at Winfuture who obtained the images and used measurements from these to compare with the first generation Watch GT.
According to these FCC-type websites the Watch GT 2 will also receive a larger battery (445mAh) and thus will likely last even longer than the first generation, which incidentally lasts several days on a single charge — you can bet that Google are very jealous of this battery life on a smartwatch.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 will also house an integrated GPS chip, a microphone and a speaker and an optical heart rate monitor. The images above show the watch in a sport and a classic version with both versions having a classic watch appearance. I’m not sure which I prefer — why not both?
The Huawei Watch GT 2 is expected to make an appearance in the next few weeks either at IFA (this week) or at the launch of the Mate 30 line in a couple of weeks time.
Hopefully the Watch GT 2 arrives Downunder this time in an official capacity as the first incarnation was a great expereince that deserved much more exposure than it received. We will let you know as soon as we hear more.
Why is it so hard for anybody to make a decent wear is watch.. Take the Samsung design with rotating bezel.. The features of the ticpro 4g… And the look weight and battery optimisation of the watch gt and you have an apple watch killer.. Far out its not hard!
