Facebook Messenger is one of the most popular and widely used instant messaging apps, and for good reason. The group chat functions are excellent, and like it or not, the service integrates very well with your Facebook friends, groups and such, making it a convenient way to stay in touch with friends, family, colleagues and more.
However, the association with Facebook is a troubling one for many, and users may rightly be concerned about the safety and security of their personal information.
Facebook is working on a means to address this, announcing a Messenger Privacy and Security Hub to help educate users in ways they can protect their security and personal information online.
The privacy hub offers users the opportunity to learn about privacy settings and secret conversations within the app itself. It’s not just about personal data security but privacy, showing users how to block and report users who aren’t necessarily welcome correspondents. If you use Messenger more than casually, this can be a real problem. Try being a female online, and the issue only gets significantly worse and more disgusting.
The new hub also has a significant amount of information that users can read on how to keep accounts safe as well as the efforts the Messenger team go to to keep people safe on their platform.
It really shouldn’t matter if you’re a heavy user or an occasional/casual user of Messenger, you should take a serious look at the Messenger Security and Privacy Hub.
