Back in September Lenovo announced their next Google Assistant powered smart speaker, the Smart Display 7 with Google Assistant. The device has quietly made its way to our shores, listed for sale in Australia for $129.
You’ll find listings for the Smart Display 7 at Harvey Norman, JB Hi-fi and The Good Guys list the device on their sites, with The Good Guys even marking is as in stock in some locations.
For those looking for a little more, the latest Harvey Norman catalogue has the 7-inch Smart Display along with a Lenovo Smart Plug and Colour Changing Bulb (both of which work with Google Assistant) for just $147 – that’s not a bad deal!
If you’ve been looking for a smart display, this new Lenovo sounds like a good deal – it’s much cheaper than Google’s own 7-inch offering (Nest Hub) and includes a camera for Duo calling.
When is Lenovo going to release its new tablet, the M8, in Australia?
This tablet is supposed to behave like a smart display when you’re not using it as a tablet.
The Lenovo M8 was announced with great fanfare back in September. Then silence. It’s so late now that Lenovo will be missing the Christmas shopping rush.
Looking at the Lenovo US page for the M8, it’s still showing as ‘Coming Soon’.
So it doesn’t seem to be simply that it’s out elsewhere in the world, and lagging with a possible Australia release date.
Some able to get it for $79 last week at Good Guys (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/496267). What a steal.
If they’ve done it once, they can do it again.
Thing is, this is much more like the price it should be, not the $199 of the Google Home Hub.
Any idea on the sound quality?
