OPPO introduced the Reno line to the world earlier this year and since then have iterated on it quite a few times. We have seen multiple versions of the Reno and now the Reno2. They are set to continue with the Reno name next year according to a Tweet today.
Everyone’s favourite VP/leaker, Brian Shen, has taken to social media to share an image of the upcoming Reno3 Pro 5G — yes that is a mouthful. The image does not show us much but what it does show is interesting.
We have seen rumours of the Reno3 coming with a punch hole camera but that rumour can be either squashed or relegated to one of the mid-range Reno3 devices thanks to this image. We can see that there is no punch hole here suggesting either a pop-up shark fin camera again or, as my optimistic side wants to imagine, an under-display selfie camera.

While it is unlikely they will introduce the under-display front camera it will have been nearly 8 months since they shared their progress with it with us by the time it is released so it is not out of the realms of possible.
They have suggested that next year is the goal to have the under display selfie camera in production and what better device than what is most likely their flagship, the Reno3 Pro 5G. This could be a stretch but they will come sooner or later, why not next year?
The Reno3 Pro 5G is also just 7.7mm thick which is a big reduction in size from the Reno 5G we saw here in Australia. Hopefully they do not sacrifice any battery life for this decrease in thickness given that 5G phones do chew through a lot of battery.
The display is also curved which I am actually not a fan of but we will wait and see just how curved and how many accidental touches we incur.
OPPO really do hardware well and their software has improved a lot in the past few years — it is now usable for sure. Their continuing committment to quality hardware and innovation is one reason why they are one of the most successful OEMs in the world.
If the above is true then 2020 looks to be another big year for OPPO as they look to continue on their momentum from this year.
