The latest addition to the Arlo security camera range is the Essential Spotlight Camera. The device can stand-alone as a starting point for your home security, or as an additional device (requires Arlo SmartHub VMB4000, VMB4540, VMB4500, VMB5000) on your existing setup.

The device has a solid feature set, highlighted by

  • 1080p HD video
  • two-way audio
  • integrated spotlight with colour night vision
  • motion detection alerts
  • wire-free design

Brad Little, the VP and Marketing Director APAC for Arlo Technologies stated:

The Essential Spotlight Camera is a simple, plug and play solution that delivers families peace of mind by keeping an eye on what’s happening in and around home

Looking at the design and specs of the Essential Spotlight Camera is consistent with the recent iterations of their hardware. A sleek, slightly rounded device which can blend in well to a homefront –all while being visible enough to show that you’re security conscious.

Users who purchase an Essential Spotlight Camera get access to three months of Arlo’s AI subscription-based service, Arlo Smart for free. This is the pitch where you get to see how good subscription-based services are and then you lose it.

The additional features you’ll see from Arlo Smart are rolling 30-days of 1080p video recordings, more customisable experience with adjustable notifications and full control over all additional features in the Arlo app.

The pricing starts at AUD $229 for one camera and AUD $429 for a set of two. If you’re looking to start or increase your Arlo camera system with an Essential Spotlight Camera they’ll be available at retailers in September 2020.
