We’ve already seen quite a bit of cool gear released at CES despite the dropouts of major names. Lenovo has added to that growing list with a number of new smart home focussed goodies.

Lenovo Smart Clock Essential with Alexa

The Lenovo Smart Clock Essential is an evolution from the original version of the smart clock. The beautiful thing is you’ve now got the option to go with Alexa and utilise all associated features if that’s your preferred smart assistant.

The physical hardware has a number of excellent features including an easy to read, bold display that features time and weather at a glance. The Smart Clock Essential is designed to meet the basic needs of a bedside table vs the Echo Show devices from Amazon. Knowing users are likely to use these in a bedroom setting, to protect privacy Lenovo has excluded a camera and included mic mute options.

Carrying on the look of the previous generation, the Smart Clock Essential will fit in among most bedroom settings. Conveniently it also has a USB port on the back of the device to charge your phone and minimise the mess on your nightstand. Of course, being an Alexa based device you’ll have access to your streaming services as a stand-alone device, or add it to groups.

Lenovo Ambient Light Dock

As an accessory to the Smart Clock Essential, Lenovo also launched the Lenovo Ambient Light Dock. It’s simple to set up and has a number of options to provide you (or your kids) with a night light. You can choose solid colours, fading sunset, rainbows or motion lights but simply double-tapping the top of your Smart Clock essential.

Lenovo Smart Frame

An updated version of the original version, the Smart Frame is built to be the centre of your family home. It no longer requires Google Photos to cycle through your precious memories, just upload your favourite shots directly to the device. Soon the Lenovo Smart Frame will support the display of your Instagram account stream.

The features don’t stop at digital photo frame though. It can also become a family message board with the capability to leave sticky notes for your family to display at scheduled times. This is now being further boosted with interactive activities and bringing fitness data to the forefront.

Given the freshness of the device release, we’ve not yet received pricing or availability in Australia. We are however confident that they are coming to our shores.
