The Australian market leader in robotic vacuums and mops Ecovacs has unveiled it’s new premium flagship DEEBOT X1 OMNI, the industry’s most advanced hands-free cleaning experience to-date.

At $2,499 this is not a robot vacuum for most people, it’s best suited for those who can afford the Sydney harbourside residence that it was demonstrated in yesterday. That said hopefully if enough of those people buy it, the technology will filter down to more affordable models in a few years.

The DEEBOT X1 OMNI is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to manage the entire floor cleaning process. Beyond sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping, the new OMNI Station is the first in the world to integrate and automate not only dust collection, but also cleaning of the mop, drying the mop with hot air flow and refilling the water reservoir from its water tank.

The All-in-One OMNI Station has a 4L clean/dirty water tank to automatically store the wastewater after cleaning the mop and refilling the water tank in the DEEBOT X1 with clean water. After each cleaning round, the base station automatically washes the mop and dries it using hot air to remove odours when working in humid environments. Such features enable the DEEBOT X1 OMNI to vacuum and mop longer and delivering a truly hands-free experience.

Karen Powell, Head of ECOVACS ROBOTICS in Australia and New Zealand said at the launch:

“The DEEBOT X1 OMNI is the true culmination of ECOVACS’ decades of learnings in the industry and takes home services robotics to the next level as we strive to bring unparalleled automation, convenience, and benefits into our daily lives”

“For the last five years, Australians have embraced ECOVACS as we have introduced new technology to the category and changed perceptions about what is possible with robot vacuums. As such, it feels like a natural next step for Australia to be one of the first countries to be introduced to our new X1 Family, as it reflects our unwavering commitment to keep driving innovation and raising the bar.”

An early Australian tester of the new robot vac said that they were quite impressed with the auto mapping functionality and said it was the best they’d seen compared to the several dozen robot vacs they’d tested over the years.

Mapping and obstacle detection are two of the most exciting innovations seen in robotic vacuums over the last few years. ECOVACS TrueMapping 2.0 technology is found in the DEEBOT X1 OMNI which speeds up mapping and offers a wider field of view.

AIVI 3D significantly improves the robot’s perception of the environment using laser and visual sensing technologies such as the RGBD sensor, which includes HDR dynamic range imaging technology to accurately capture environmental images and semantic information even in dark environments.

The DEEBOT X1’s decision making process is similar to an autonomous driving car. It is the first time Autopilot technology has been used in home service robots. This technology utilises Horizon GAI chips and dramatically improves the robots’ ability to identify and sense different object types while building three-dimensional information of the environment.

As you’d expect from a premium robot vac there’s voice control. YIKO is the industry’s first natural language, built-in interactive assistant tailored for home service robots.

As an example by saying “OK YIKO, start quick mapping”, users can build a complete map for efficient cleaning. Alternatively, users can ask their DEEBOT to come towards their voice, vacuum under the sofa, go back to clean the bedroom, and much more.

The DEEBOT X1 OMNI (Black) is available from today at Bing Lee, Godfreys, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and ECOVACS.com/au for RRP $2,499 AUD. The DEEBOT X1 OMNI (White) is available from today via the ECOVACS.com/au web shop.

The DEEBOT X1 TURBO is available from today via Amazon.com.au and eBay.com.au for RRP $2,099.

The DEEBOT X1 TURBO shares many features with the DEEBOT X1 OMNI such as AIVI 3D and TrueMapping 2.0 obstacle detection and mapping, strong suction power and YIKO assistant. It comes with an alternative smaller docking station that focuses on its mopping effectiveness so is ideal for homes with no carpets, with auto cleaning of pads, cool air drying, and refilling of the water reservoir.
