It’s been a pretty big point of conjecture with reviewers to figure out the battery life on the Pixel Watch. Depending on the individual use case, I’ve seen figures between 14 hours of use time to around 30, finally we have some clarification from Google.
The support page has recently been updated with specific figures on how they came to the figure of “up to 24 hours” of battery life.
- 240 notifications
- 280 time checks
- A 5 min LTE phone call
- 45 min LTE and GPS workout with downloaded YouTube music playback
- 50 minutes of navigation (Google Maps) while connected to a phone via Bluetooth
- The watch configured with the default settings, including the Always-on display set to off
There are, of course, ways to extend this further with battery saver mode, utilising full doze mode and turning on bedtime mode overnight. In early testing, I found that getting into a routine of charging while showering in the morning and in the evening while getting ready for bed is sufficient to ensure continued use throughout the day.
Our long term review of the Pixel Watch is coming soon, keep your eyes on the site.
I think it’s totally pathetic that people have to resort to strategies to get 24 hours out of a device like this. Talk about emperor’s new clothes…
