Mode
Google has been on a tear recently with their US-only accessory launches, today they’ve introduced another one with MODE Snap-and-swap watch bands.

The bands, which are made by watch attachment specialists Hadley Roma, are designed to quickly attach and release from both Android Wear and mechanical watches once a simple pin is in place on a standard lug based watch, with a simple slide button detaching and attaching with ease.

The bands are available in 4 sizes – 16, 18, 20 and 22mm – to fit watches supplied by all 12 Android Wear watch makers. The MODE bands are available in either Silicon or Leather, with 6 different coloured silicon bands available for $49.95USD or 10 different coloured leather bands available for $59.95USD each.

Google has designed MODE to be more than just an accessory which you can (or can’t if you’re not in the US) buy from the Google Store, Amazon or Best Buy, they’ve announced it as an ‘open’ way to create a watch band, inviting partners to create more. Google has ‘created a vendor playbook with instructions, requirements and brand guidelines’ at g.co/wearMODE to get potential partners interested in the new watchband attachment.

You can check it out – but not buy one – over on the US Google Store, Amazon or Best Buy now, we can only hope we see these arriving here soon.

Update:
Google has added a bunch of YouTube videos showing off MODE bands. Unfortunately no word on when we’ll get them here.

I want one…… I wonder how long it’ll take to get here? I’d be tempted to import it in myself through a package forwarder.

These look fantastic. It’d be great, though, if some of these designers/manufacturers looked beyond the US borders. I love my Huawei watch, but the black leather band is boring, and I’d like to switch it out. The availability of interesting bands in Australia, though, is dismal.

WTF is the point of reporting on this if its US ONLY!?!?!
