Google is expanding the range of accessories which will tie-in with Google Assistant announcing new partnerships with samrt accessories from a range of smart accessory companies.

LIFX was first to announce their compatability with Google Home, and now Google has added them to the list of Google Assistant compatible accessories along with Best Buy Insignia, TP-Link and Wink. There will be a range of commands available via Google

    Assistant including:

  • Cool down and “turn on the fan” with the Best Buy Insignia Wi-Fi Smart Plug
  • Set the mood for your dinner party and “change the living room lights to blue” with LIFX
  • Relax and “dim the living room lights” with TP-Link
  • Get comfortable and “turn up the heat” with Wink

Google has been slowly adding more and more partners, including big names like WeMO and Google has said that more will be coming. C-Net reports that August Smart Locks, Rachio, First Alert, Vivint, Frigidaire, Anova, Geeni and Logitech Harmony are among the list of upcoming Smart Home accessories that will soon be compatible with Google Home.

Adding new devices to Google Assistant or Home is fairly simple, with Google giving these instructions:


To connect smart home devices to your Google Assistant on Google Home, just go to the Google Home app, select settings and then select Home Control, and click “+” to add a new device. You can also connect your devices within your Assistant on Pixel and Android phone settings.

Google has begun rolling out the Assistant to a number of devices running Marshmallow and above recently. Google Home is expanding availability to the UK in April along with Google Wi-Fi. When Google will launch Home, or Wifi here in Australia hasn’t been announced, but importing them through stores like B&H PhotoVideo is delightfully easy.

This addition of some fairly big name devices is promising for Google’s Smart Home efforts, we can’t wait to see more.

    How do we get this Google Assistant thing? All I get from “Ok Google,…” is web searches.

    yay finally. will be much easier now to control my LIFX bulbs, there were too many clashes between the built in commands and IFTT commands.
