Android Wear devices are kind of expensive, but the newest announcement from wareable maker Misfit is the Vapor which will put a GPS-enabled Android Wear 2.0 watch on your wrist for just $199USD.
The watch will obviously get some pricing changes before it even reaches our shores, if it ever does make it here, but at that price with GPS, a heart rate monitor and a fully round 1.39″ AMOLED display it’s a bargain.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and coming with the usual 4GB of on-board storage the watch also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and is water resistant up to 50 metres – it does lack NFC, so Android Pay isn’t an option, but it still has a lot of function included for a low price.
It’s not just functional, it looks pretty good too with a Jet Black or Rose Gold stainless steel casing. It also appears to have standard lugs which should allow for interchangeable watch bands, but we’ll have to confirm that one.
Running Android Wear 2.0, the Vapor will be very sports focused with what Misfit call an ‘enhanced fitness experience’, that will show your calories, pace, distance, and heart rate for your runs, walks, and bike rides. The data collected by the watches sensors which include an accelerometer, altimeter and gyroscope in addition to the GPS and PPG Heart Rate monitor, will all be able to be uploaded and stored in Google Fit.
While Misfit hasn’t announced Australian availability as yet, it will be shipping in the US from ‘Late Summer 2017’. We’ll be tracking down info on the watches availability here shortly.
Just reading up on the Diesel On and the Fossil Q Explorist, sounds like the Misfit Vapour could be my first Android watch. Just hope the straps are interchangeable.

Agreed. It’s a nice looking watch and it will be a bargain for $300. I wonder how thick it is though. Watches with heart rate monitors tends to be quite thick to accommodate the technology.
The touch bezel sounds pretty good. Wonder if it has a Mic/speaker combo for Bluetooth calls?
This looks like one of the best AndroidWear 2.0 devices I’ve seen so far. Pitty about the NFC but a that price you can’t really complain.
Looks nice but the vapor name really makes me think of vapourwear
