If you like the look of the Xperia Z phone announced at CES, then why not look at the matching Xperia Tablet Z that Sony Japan has just announced over on their site. The announcement which comes with the title ‘Sony Xperia ™ Tablet Z developed a mobile, the Japanese market’ perhaps may only be for the Japanese market…for now anyway.
The specs do look good for what it is, the tablet will be waterproof and Dustproof with a a 10.1″ screen using Reality Display and the Mobile Bravia Engine 2 all running a 1920x10801200(edit: Thanks Blake) resolution, it will come with an 8-MegaPixel camera(Why do we insist on this on tablets?) and all come in a body just 6.9mm thick and weigh 495grams. It will be available in Black and White and come with NFC and LTE built in.
As yet there are no details on when the tablet will be available or how much it will cost but with LTE built in perhaps one of the carriers here in Australia may want to partner it up with the Xperia Z phone that
People use their tablets as cameras now. You might think it’s silly, but they do. So you might as well give them a decent camera.
Nice one. I wonder why they want to add NFC to tablets? Phones, I understand but tablets?? Hopefully it will come over to Australia soon.
You can do interesting things around the home with NFC tags, eg. put one on your desk and tap it to change settings or start an app, one on the coffee table in the TV room, etc.
Other places are saying 1920 x 1200 resolution…

You are correct. Sony themselves say WUXGA, which is 1920 x 1200. Nice aspect ratio for a tablet. Source: http://www.sonymobile.co.jp/company/press/20130121_xperia_tablet_z.html
