One of Android’s more unique features is Google Now. Originally labelled as a rip-off of Apple’s Siri, the reality is Google Now is much better, more versatile, and less creepy. Once the realm of Android devices only, it seems Google Now’s voice search is coming across to Chrome as well, and after having had a quick play with it today, it seems pretty cool!

If you want to try it out, head to on your Chrome device and hit the microphone button in the search bar. Ask Google your question — just as you would with Google Now on an Android — and have a play with the results. Some questions you could ask to see for yourself how this works:

  • What time is it?
  • Who is Barrack Obama?
  • What’s the weather like in Sydney?
  • What is a rhesus monkey?
  • What is 45 times 63?

Have a play with it and let us know what you think — is this a good step forward for search? What funny questions have you found that generate an amusing spoken response?
