Without ever reaching Australian shores, Google recently removed a number of Google Play Edition devices from the Play Store in the US. Thankfully, some of those devices are now available to purchase directly from Expansys Australia.

The prices may be a bit more expensive than buying them in the US but when you take the freight forwarder charges out it probably works out about the same if not a little cheaper:

One note on the range of GPE devices on offer: The Sony Xperia Z Ultra LTE GPE is the only device that is in stock locally, whereas the other devices will be shipped from the USA, when you place your order.

These are all still very good devices that run pure vanilla Android for those out there that don’t like the bloatware that comes with some of the regular versions. All of these devices are unlocked and are quite a good buy if you don’t need to have the latest and greatest specs. If you’re in the market for a new device and you didn’t win one of the Ausdroid OnePlus One invitations you better get in quick as supplies are limited.

Hi Manya3084
Have you received your GPE G Pad yet? If so what’s it like?

Manya3084

I like it a lot more than the nexus 7 (2013). That little extra real estate on the screen goes a long way.

The only real down side is there isn’t much avalible in terms of custom Roms.

Good to hear, I may have to get one myself.

lG G Pad is a gd deal keeping in mind that this is a GPE 🙂
Only thing stopping me the tap to wake feature will be missing in GPE rom 🙁

I’m running CM11 on my G Pad… tap to wake works fine. I wonder if GPE would be the same…

I’d assume you would need to flash a different kernel
