Google Hangouts Chrome app has gotten a makeover, with very Android-y design flare to the app.

Mayur Kamat, a product manager at Google, has announced the update on his Google+ feed, advising the app is now available for users on Mac OSX, Windows, ChromeOS and Linux. The app still retains the old Chat Heads style once installed, but you can get the new look going by entering settings and disabling the transparent mode.

It’s a new look, but sadly you still can’t do one of the things that Hangouts in Android does exceptionally well – change your account easily. Still, it gives us something to hope for next time. If you’re using Hangouts for Chrome, you should get updated automatically, if not, head over to the Chrome Web Store and check it out.

YAY! This update, after I disable then re-enable Transparent UI, fixed my sizing issues!

Somehow every chat box became 90% of the size of my laptop screen. Was really annoying and could not for the life of me get it to rescale. But now it has! I even went back to the Extension from the App it was so annoying.
