According to Google, tomorrow, well the 5th of October in the US, is Marshmallow day. Google advised they would begin rolling out the update to the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. So how will you know when the update is live? The answer is Pushbullet.

The usual order of release is Google pushes updates to the Android Open Source Project, we then see Factory images uploaded to the Android developers Nexus Factory Images page, before finally seeing updates pushed to devices via Over-The-Air (OTA) updates.

A while back, reddit user icefall5 created pushbullet channels for all the devices that will receive the update all you need is Pushbullet – either the Desktop App or browser extension or the Android App – and then subscribe to the appropriate channel below:

Of course the distribution of OTA updates for the devices is most important, although you can flash your Nexus with a factory image without wiping if you edit the flashall.bat script file and remove the ‘-w’ option (-w wipes the user partition). If you do get a notification that an OTA is available, make sure you use our ‘How-To’ on capturing the link to the OTA update on the Google server. Once we have the OTA update link, you can use our How-To on sideloading the update to your device.

We’re watching AOSP now to find out when the upload begins, so stay tuned….

Be wary of flashing this and not wiping the userdata partition. I have heard reports of weirdness happening. This is a full number update (5 to 6) and there are major permission changes for apps.

So here is Ausdroid saying they will notify us, meanwhile almost every other Android website out there has already posted that they are available.

Sorry guys, but you are always so far behind in the news.

    Manya3084

Give them a little . They are probably sleeping.

I got up early for work and noticed its out. Now I’m just resyncing all my apps.

    Chill mate.

    chris

Ray, go elsewhere and moan there. Your comments are not needed or appreciated.

    Ray

I really don’t care what you think. What I posted is “fact”. 9 times out of 10 Ausdroid is often a day or two (sometimes more) behind.

    chris

So why do you think we want to read your sad comments ? These guys do this as a hobby, do you really think they are going to have a 24 hour website just to keep you happy ? I say again if they are so bad why do you keep coming back ?
BTW they were very quick notifying of the first OTA’s available.

Keep your self appointed “facts” to yourself.

    Ray

Self appointed? Hardly! History clearly shows it.

Now, feel free to get over yourself.

    Troll. Pure and simple.

most of the sites you are following are IN US i guess, whihc means they are active when the release happens…unlike Ausdroid which is local……remember there is DST just changed as well to make us more sleepy ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the feedback. We are Australian based reporting on a news cycle that originates from the US on an unpaid, part time basis. Time-zones do play a part in this. We attempt to get to news as quickly as possible but we do need to sleep at least some times, but if you check the times some of my articles go out, that may be in dispute ;). Several entries on techmeme attest to our being included as a reputable source with timely reporting – i.e first to the ball as they say. We hope to do better and… Read more ยป

    It’s happened

Why bother with that when Ausdroid will inform us quick smart when the links are ready. You guys do awesome work so why worry about somewhere else.

Why no nexus 4 when apple is still supporting iPhone 4s which is 4 years old ๐Ÿ™

    Daniel Tyson

They update API level, but the feature set is incomplete. Also I’ve seen newer versions of iOS running on older devices (mostly iPads) and it’s not a pleasant experience. At least the Nexus 4 gets ROM support from the community, there will be Marshmallow builds.

    Ray

Time to upgrade your device. You can’t expect Google to keep building for a device that is several generations behind now.

    vijay alapati

“several generations”….lol….read my comment ….its a nexus which will have no bloatware and easy to upgrade….if a normal IME is supporting their devices for 2 years (motorola)…why shouldn’t google…its like google indirectly stating IME’s that don’t support after 2 years….there are many people who still loves and uses nexus 4 due to screen size and cost
