Google hardware aficionados this morning will be pleased to find Australia has been included in the list of launch countries for Google’s newest premium tablet the Pixel C. The tablet has been in and out of stock all morning, but finally seems here to stay.
Appearing on the Google Store, the Pixel C is priced at $699 for the 32GB model and $829 for 64GB.
The US site is listing a Leather option for the Keyboard, but it appears that Australia is only seeing one Keyboard option that appears to be aluminium – like the tablet itself – priced at $199.
The tablet has a premium price, but the specs are premium as well, with the full list of specs now available:

Do you think we’ll see this in physical stores, or will stay online only? Looks so good, but wish they were offering some Play credit or storage or something to take the edge off that high price.
Does NOT get a good review on arstechnica. Partly flaky hardware, but mostly the problem that Google have screwed up their OS for tablets. Unfinished it probably the nicest way to put it (I won’t link because of what this naff comment system does to links).
Oh, and I’m getting pissed off with these overpriced keyboards that are sold as optional extras, even when they ain’t.
Well, well, well…. That is good news indeed. I’m looking for something to replace my HP Slatebook x2 so this could be it. However I’ll hold off until the price drops a bit.

This is a ‘Premium’ tablet by Google’s admission and appears to be well priced when you look at just the exchange rate:
32GB US$499 = $692AUD
64GB US$599 = $831AUD
Keyboard US$149 = $206AUD
so our $619 and $749 looks pretty good
It’s better to do the conversion from the product cost, than the RRP, but they’re a company with a lot of money trying to compete with other premium devices, they could bring it down a bit. MS and Apple are trying ways to differentiate, and i have to admit, the Surface tablet is pretty slick, and with that you get a whole os and stylus support. This doesn’t have the screen digitizer for stylus’, and apart from metal chassis and keyboard harware (that is honestly a really cool product itself) Android doesn’t have the premium features at the OS level.… Read more »
Hey Daniel, what are the $619 and $749 prices you quoted here? Were they just early estimates before the official prices at $699 and $829 were announced? Just placed an order on the 64 GB at $829 and hoping I haven’t missed something and overpaid… :p
They were in the source code before they became available to order.
