NVIDIA has maintained a good track record for getting their current generation of devices onto the latest version of Android in acceptable time frames. Today, that trend continues, with NVIDIA’s announcement of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Shield Tablet K1. Unfortunately if you have the original Shield Tablet (8″) which is almost identical top the Shield K1 this update is not yet rolling out to your device.
Despite not being officially available in Australia NVIDIA’s Shield line of Android products are fairly popular especially in the gaming market segment, with the Shield line offering many gamer specific features. The Android 6.0 update brings with it all of the big Marshmallow features including:
- Adoptable Storage: allowing Micro SD cards to be interrogated into the system memory, this will be one of the first devices to use this new system.
- Android Doze
- Google Now on Tap
- Improved Shield Camera
If you want to see what NVIDIA has to say about the update take a quick look at their sneak peak below.
