Google and virtualisation company VMWare have this week announced a new tool – VMware Workspace ONE – which will give customers more secure authentication, and allow them to securely deploy applications on Chrome OS devices.

The new partnership was announced this week at Dell’s EMC WORLD 2017 event in Las Vegas. The announcement will see Enterprise level IT managers the ability to deploy Windows applications to their staff using VMware Horizon 7 & VMware Horizon Cloud and secure them using enhanced security.

Using VMware One, end users will be able to use one click authentication using single sign-on (SSO) to access all of these new apps. IT admins will remain confident in the security of the devices these apps are being deployed on thanks to the inherent security of the Chrome OS platform.

This appears to be just the beginning of a more concerted push from Google and VMware, who have actually been working on delivering secure Android devices and applications to enterprise since 2015. More corporate options are coming to Chrome OS with Google and VMware ‘collaborating on advancements to unify native Android applications’.

Perhaps we’ll see this in action in demos, or further announcements on Chrome OS at Google I/O next week.
