This is another step in the right direction for Google to compete head to head with the might of Apple. Nearby Share is designed to rival Air Drop, bringing the ability to share files and links, online or off, to nearby devices.
In a blog post, the additional feature of Nearby Share rolling out to Chromebooks has been announced. Making sharing from your Chromebook to your Android and vice versa a simple process.
For anyone on the move a lot, the beautiful thing about Nearby Share is that you can send files over:
- Bluetooth
- Peer to peer Wi-Fi
- WebRTC
Other features set to delight ChromeOS users includes offline access to Google Docs, Slides and Sheets. This is continuing the drive for Chromebooks to become a mainstream use item. If you’re comfortable with Google Drive, then there is little to keep you in the Windows ecosystem for productivity now.
