Perhaps the headline should have read Whoops with Samsung leaking its own device on an official support page. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra appeared on the company’s official support page. The page was, unsurprisingly, taken down however the Internet never forgets and 91Mobiles has the details.

So far we know that there are likely to be multiple models and through multiple leaks, we already have a good idea of the aesthetics. The images match previous renders and confirm the fact that there is a camera notch.

According to the details from 91Mobiles the specs are going to be near on laptop level:

  • 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display running 2960 x 1848 resolution and 120Hz refresh
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 chipset
  • Adreno 730 GPU
  • 512GB Storage
  • Up to 16GB RAM
  • S-Pen Support
  • Under-display fingerprint sensor
  • 11,200mAh battery

As is often the case with Samsung tablets, the S8 Ultra is expected to have an optional keyboard case to improve productivity. If the information and renders are accurate, there are not really any surprises left for the release. The question is: Will the Tab S8 Ultra be good enough to replace users laptops, or will it just be an oversize and overpriced tablet?

Phil, at 14.6in, I think the S8+ Ultra will be a far too oversized device, to be useful as a tablet.
I learned that the hard way from how too big to really be useful as a tablet, my Lenovo IdeaPad C340 15.6 is.
I think 13in would really be as big as you’d want to go, for a tablet for it to still be a usable size. Anything above that and it becomes too big and cumbersome to really be useful.

14.6″! Wow, that’s a big tablet. Don’t get me wrong, I love me a big tablet!! I already own the Samsung TAB S7+ which in comparison is a puny 12.4″. According to GSMArena the TAB S8 Ultra will have a 618.1 cm2 screen area. For comparison the Lenovo M10 Plus a 10.3″ screen has a 307.6 cm2 screen area. So the TAB S8 Ultra is twice as big as a Lenovo M10 Plus. I love the size of my TAB S7+, it’s great for travelling or camping, I think I would be OK with the size/weight of the S8 Ultra… Read more »
