Thumb a little black? You may need a little technological help to keep those plants alive and Parrot is here to help. After launching their wireless sensor ‘Flower Power’ for iOS earlier this year, Parrot has today announced that the botanical monitoring solution is now compatible with Android.

The Flower Power wireless sensor is designed to help you care for your plants, with the device referring to a database of more than 7000 plants, trees and vegetables, to give you recommendations on soil moisture, fertiliser, ambient temperature and light intensity. The sensor connects to your phone or tablet through Bluetooth to let you know how healthy (or close to death in my case) they are.

The app will actually connect to your paired Flower Power sensor through ‘the Parrot Cloud’ via 3G/4G or Wi-Fi connection, to let you know even when you’re away on holiday how your favourite plant is going. The app appears to be a fairly straight port from the iOS version, but after the initial launch, perhaps we’ll see a Material Design update if things go well.

The Flower Power sensor, is available to buy in Light Blue, Green or Brown, with a recommended retail price of $79.95 from a variety of retailers including Kogan, Elevated Gardens, Modlife Online, Myer, Palm Place Nursery Online or as a reward from the Qantas Frequent Flyer Program – or if you’re that way inclined Apple.
