Overnight, YouTube has announced their long awaited premium service, they’re calling ‘Red’. The service will launch in the US on the 29th of October for US$9.99 per month.
The premium service will bring with it exclusive new series as well as full length movies from YouTube stars such as the biggest YouTube star of them all: PewDiePie. The YouTube Red service will also offer subscribers the ability to watch YouTube videos ad-free or if you choose to, offline for viewing later.
The service will launch for US subscribers with a one-month trial before the US$9.99 fee kicks in so they can see what it’s all about.

- Untitled Joey Graceffa project: In this all-new reality adventure series, Joey Graceffa brings together an ensemble of top YouTubers for a murder mystery they’ll never forget. They’ll form alliances to survive, but little do they know that most won’t make it out alive.
- 360 Project from MatPat of Game Theory: YouTube educator and pop culture expert MatPat from The Game Theorists invites the audience to come along for the ride in an innovative new series and 360 VR experience. Of course this is all moot for us here in Australia, just like YouTube Gaming and Music Key – this is currently only available for US subscribers. There’s no time frame announced at this stage for when we’ll see the service arrive in Australia so we’ll just have to wait and see.
I keep confusing this to Red Tube.
