Australian telco Vaya is taking the challenge right up in the face of its competitors, launching a price-beat guarantee that’s open to both new and existing customers.

The move comes as part of a renewed drive on the part of Vaya to deliver better value to Australian mobile users, and it will ensure that Vaya customers new and existing can take advantage. The premise is simple; find a better plan on the market with the same voice, text and data inclusions, and Vaya will reduce the customer’s monthly fee to the cheaper price for as long as they stay connected, and the next month will be free to boot. Oh, and this doesn’t involve any contracts. Neat.

There’s a lot of moves afoot in the mobile plan space at the moment; we’ve just seen Vodafone introducing some new pre-paid plan offerings with unique hooks, and this move from Vaya is another move in a great direction. Vaya’s marketing manager Jennifer Snell had this to say on the announcement:

“Other markets have used price beat guarantees with great success, and it’s something that’s sorely missing in the mobile telco space. As a value-driven mobile service provider, we know that our mobile plans already offer incredible value, and this Price Beat Guarantee gives our customers that additional assurance that if another telco comes out with an even cheaper plan with the same inclusions down the line, all they have to do is give us a call and we’ll beat it.

We’re actually taking price beat guarantees to the next level. While this sort of initiative in other markets only applies at the time of purchase – which means you need to do all of your research beforehand – Vaya’s Price Beat Guarantee continues to apply for every month you’re a customer,” she said.

Vaya believe that regardless of this offer, they have a good value proposition for their customer base. They’ve compared their offerings across two typical usage tiers; an entry-level, SIM only plan, and a sub-$40 mobile plan. Take a look at the details below:

On the face of it, Vaya’s plans are offering some good value as it is, and so customers who are sensitive to price and value of mobile plans would be well advised to give it some thought. Vaya is a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) which uses the Optus network, including their 4G Plus footprint, which might also be a factor in your decision making.
