The team behind open-sourcing HP’s WebOS has lost a few members today as they head on over to Google, with likely jobs on the Android team. While HP will continue with their strategy to open source WebOS by September this year, the fact that a core part of their team has left has got to hurt the already troubled company.
If the team does indeed start working on Android at Google, it will be a great boost to the operating system’s development, as Matias Duarte — WebOS’s former designer — is already working on Android to make the user experience extra fantastic. Android has already taken a few design cues from WebOS, an operating system that has been praised as being one of the most well thought-out mobile operating systems. If that experience can be brought over to Android, it will be a massive win for Google.
