Huawei’s P9 hasn’t yet launched in Australia (though it soon will), but already it is eclipsing the success of last year’s Huawei P8, with more than 2.6 million units shipped worldwide. Most of those sales have taken place in China, France, Finland and Britain — Huawei is an increasingly growing force in consumer electronics in Europe.
The success of the Huawei P9 follows success all around for the consumer business group, with 28.3m global handset shipments in the year ending Q1 2016, a 64% increase over the previous 12 month period.
The P9 has been a big part of this, with 5 million pre-orders in China alone following the global announcement in London earlier this year.
Huawei’s Consumer CEO, Richard Yu (pictured above) had this to say on the sales success of the P9:

The Chinese are coming!
Chinese Vendors Huwaei, Oppo and Vivo hold 3 of the top 5 spots in world wide smartphone shipments in Q1 2016.
Oppo has revealed it has sold 7.1 million Oppo R9’s since launch. Chinese vendors are on the up, where as Samsung and Apple which are 1 and 2 are flat…

Really , samsung sales flat? I read in an article yesterday , samsung sales are on track to sell 25 million S7’s alone this year, if this is a bad year I’m thinking it’s not too bad.
That’s correct. They’re still number 1 in Q1 2016 and selling a lot of devices but their sales are flat when compared to Huwaei, Oppo and Vivo. I’ve never had a Huawei, anyone here can give their thoughts about them? (Other than the nexus ones)
Huawei’s gear is usually pretty good. We’ve got the Mate 8 and P9 on the review bench at the moment and early impressions of both are positive. Huawei’s software has always been a bit hit and miss; EMUI isn’t great, but it has improved from how it used to be.
