We thought the Huawei Nova Plus was launching last week when we spotted a tweet from Huawei, however, it seems that may have been a misfire. All that is behind us today, with Huawei officially announcing the mid-tier Nova Plus is on sale now from $549 AUD.
If you’re interested in the Nova Plus (and there is a lot to be interested in) you can pick one up at either Harvey Norman or Officeworks. Though their websites don’t list the device yet, with the announcement now made, it shouldn’t be long for the Nova Plus to show up. The 5.5″ phone has a FHD LCD display, Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with a MicroSD slot.

Update: Officeworks are now listing the Nova Plus for $499, stock not yet availalbe.
If there was something missing from this device I would say it was NFC for mobile payments. Yes this is an all-metal phone, yes it’s mid-tier, however, I think NFC is now a must have feature to be a competitive device, and the lack of it is noticeable.

Officeworks have it listed for $499 if you do a search on their website as it’s not yet listed.
It’s not a bad device, but still too pricey given the specs. A Note 3 from 3 years ago has a Snapdragon 800 with the same RAM/Storage/SD card options plus NFC. Not to mention the plethora of Roms available and easy to flash. A decent 2nd hand unit can be bought for $300. A Note 4 is even better which can be purchased for around $400 these days. Might be a slow seller…
Very good point. For those willing to shop around and not needing things to be the newest/latest, that’s a great option. The only concern I would have is software updates, as most manufacturers won’t bother updating devices that are 2+ years old. And not everyone is willing to root and mod their device.
I think it just requires more thought and effort.
