HMD Global are one of the manufacturers expected to release multiple devices at MWC 2019 this week. Edoardo Cassina, Social Media Chief for the Nokia brand, has released a photo that was “completely captured and edited” with one of the new phones.

While Cassina doesn’t specify which of their phones in involved with the capture and edit, there is a reasonable assumption: given the image quality and high level imaging hardware on the device, we may be looking at something from the upcoming Nokia 9.

From a personal perspective I find the depth of colour, light and shadow in the image outstanding. The colours appear very natural and consistent through the image.

In a couple of areas the image looks a little like CGI to my eyes which could be the editing done on it, processing on the device or potentially even the compression that Instagram runs over images.

If this is from the Nokia 9, it will undoubtedly compete head to head with some of the well recognised leaders in mobile phone cameras.

What features of the phones expected this week are you looking forward to checking out the most?

Call me a cynic, but am I the only one remembering past stunning photos supposedly taken by a Nokia phone? https://www.theverge.com/2012/9/6/3297878/nokias-pureview-still-photos-also-include-fakes
