It’s the race that stops the nation, it’s an Australian tradition that’s reached the point where most everyone in Australia is glued to a TV for around 3-4 minutes at 3PM on the first Tuesday in November, but what if you don’t have access to a TV? Well, in 2013 you can watch it online and Telstra is the exclusive online rights holder for broadcast within Australia and will be showing it through the Telstra Racing Network website.
With a mobile or indeed any other type of internet connection, you can head over to the Racing Network website or download the Racing Network Android App from Google Play to your Android device and watch the race anywhere.
The Racing Network saw over 1.5 Million hits during last years Spring Carnival and is expecting to shatter that record this year. Telstra is looking forward to the challenge though, with Telstra Director Digital Media and Content Adam Good advising that
the development of the 4G network to provide better speeds as well as improved handsets and functionality of the Racing Network app meant that customers get a better all round experience and can do so at their own convenience without having to be in a bar, on track or in front of a TV.
With gambling apps still not allowed on Google Play, the Racing Network App can still deliver not only Live Racing, Race Replays, Race summaries and selections but also Race results, Race form, Live official Racing Network expert race commentary, Racing news and Horse profiles. Having to watch the race remotely, rings true for me this year, as I’ll be on a bus between Canberra and Sydney this year when the GGs run the 3200 metres around the Flemington race-course in Victoria, so I’ĺl certainly be availing myself of this App and the Telstra service although I’m a terrible gambler so I prefer to keep my money in my pocket to spend on more Android devices.
