Facebook has updated its Messenger app to bring a couple of new features to facilitate faster video and photo sharing.
The update to version 5.0 doesn’t bring any visual changes, but it does bring a new feature which users have been crying out for: the ability to video share with friends and family along with faster photo sharing and sticker shortcuts.
Video sharing simply works as you’d expect. Users can now send videos directly from their gallery app into Facebook Messenger. Users can then play these videos within the app, however this feature does require the recipients to run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher.
The addition of faster instant photo sharing enables users take a photo within the app and share it with one single tap. The sticker shortcut make it easy to get stickers users are sent that they may not have simply by tapping on the sticker in question and hold to download the entire pack. The search bar has also been given a small update to make it even more faster.
The update is rolling out to users now, bringing Android users in line with iOS users who received the update early Wednesday. You can wait for the update to come to you or you can hit the link below to obtain the current app update.
