Google Maps is apparently in the process of receiving an update – to version 9.3.0 for those playing at home – which includes a nifty new feature: Shareable directions.
The new feature allows you to look up directions and then share them to any app in the Android sharing intents menu, including options to display as standard or either Satellite or Terrain view.
As well there’s now an option in the location settings dialogue box which pops up when your Location settings aren’t suitable for what you’re trying to do in Maps, allowing you to turn the nag off.
Android Police have had a look at the source code and found references to future Maps functions, including the ability to receive ‘location-specific contextual notifications’.
The update is rolling out now, or you can head to APKMirror to download the APK ahead of time.

no good if you use Nexus 7 (2013) wifi.
It would locate you unless GPS is turned on
Unfortunately hasn’t fixed the issue of the navigation voice. Only the robotic US voice without Street names.
I have svox as my text-to-speech engine but maps is the only app that doesn’t recognise it.
Is anyone else having the same issue?
Yep, annoying. I am still down grading to 8.4.1
Just had a play with it, the directions are ok, but a bit too long winded.
