Game developer Gameloft and toy and board game company Hasbro have announced a new partnership which will see classic trivia game Trivial Pursuit finally arrive on mobile.
The game will be called Trivial Pursuit & Friends when it arrives ‘soon’ globally on mobile, for Android, iOS and Windows Phone. The game will feature new and relevant question and be a ‘completely new ways to play’ offering new customisation options which will lead to a ‘fun and social gaming experience’. There will be three modes included in the game:
- Duel mode: Challenge your friends or other players to a quiz-off in real-time!
- Blitz mode: 4 players compete in a test of knowledge and speed
- Events mode: Take on brand new, specially-themed quizzes every week. Score big to climb the leaderboards and earn exclusive rewards

The emergence of trivia games such as Trivia Crack must have been an afront to Hasbro whose Trivial Pursuit game has been synonymous with Trivia board games since the mid-80’s. This release will finally address the lack of an official Trivial Pursuit game on mobile, but is it too late?
Trivial Pursuit and Friends will launch ‘soon’ which could be weeks or months, but based on Gameloft’s previous efforts, will most likely include In-App Purchases to monetise the platform. Even if it does, I`ll probably be keen to download it if only for nostalgia sake.
