Netflix Everywhere

Netflix just announced near-global availability of their service during a keynote presentation by CEO Reed Hastings, announcing the birth of a new “global TV network”.

The streaming video service is now available in 130 new countries, with a commitment from the company to add more in-language content to address the needs of consumers in these new markets. In addition to the existing 17 languages supported by the service, today Arabic, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese were added to the slate.

On adding new content and new languages, Hastings said that the company will listen and learn and gradually add more content and languages in the future.

There are a few exceptions to the Netflix’s newfound global reach – the service isn’t yet available in China (though they say they’re still “exploring options”), and US government restrictions prevent them doing business in Crimea, North Korea and Syria.

Netflix’s content production is stronger than ever in 2016, with the company planning to release new seasons of 31 shows (some new and some returning), 30 original kids’ series, 24 films and documentaries, and comedy specials.

Before discovering the Nexus One, Jason thought he didn't need a smartphone. Now he can't bear to be without his Android phone. Jason hails from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane depending on his mood and how detailed a history you'd like. A web developer by day with an interest in consumer gadgets and electronics, he also enjoys reading comics and has a worryingly large collection of Transformers figures. He'd like to think he's a gamer, but his Wii has been in a box since he moved to Sydney, and his PlayStation Vita collection is quite lacking. Most mornings you'll find him tilting at various windmills on Twitter - follow @JM77 and say hi!

They may be everywhere but the content isn’t.

Better than nothing at all though isn’t it. No point moaning about the content, they are working on it.
