Calendars, though fairly ‘boring’ are generally one of the more used functions on phones. Getting into shared calendar events and more makes organising a modern family very easy. Today Google announced a new feature, called smart suggestions, to make adding new entries to your calendar easier.
Smart suggestions will pop up when you hit new entry in your Google Calendar app, adding prompts to add more information to your entry. The new suggestions include ‘at’ allowing you to add a location to your event – handy for retrieving directions from Maps later on, as well as ‘with’ to add people to your event, allowing you to call or message them as the event approaches – though note, this doesn’t send out an invite, you’ll have to do that manually.
One final smart suggestion ‘on…’ which allows you to specify the date, time and duration of your event has been reserved for English users only, though Google has also added support for 30 languages to use the new smart suggestions and should see the feature down the track. New languages supported include:
Arabic (ar), Chinese (Simplified) (zh-CN), Chinese (Traditional) (zh-TW), Dutch (nl), English (UK) (en-GB), French (fr), German (de), Italian (it), Japanese (ja), Korean (ko), Polish (pl), Portuguese (Brazil) (pt-BR), Russian (ru), Spanish (es), Spanish (Latin America) (es-419), Thai (th), Turkish (tr), Bulgarian (bg), Catalan (ca), Croatian (hr), Czech (cs), Danish (da), Farsi (fa), Filipino (fil), Finnish (fi), Greek (el), Hebrew (iw), Hindi (hi), Hungarian (hu), Indonesian (id), Latvian (lv), Lithuanian (lt), Norwegian (Bokmal) (no), Portuguese (Portugal) (pt-PT), Romanian (ro), Serbian (sr), Slovak (sk), Slovenian (sl), Swedish (sv), Ukrainian (uk), Vietnamese (vi)
Google will, as usual, roll out the update slowly so keep an eye on Google Play for the update prompt.
