With the tech world currently focused on Barcelona and Mobile World Congress, life goes on elsewhere and the weekly Google Play App and Game Deal of the week have been updated again for another week. This week, Reckless Racing 3 from Pixelbite and Shazam Encore have been dropped to just 20c each.
App Deal of the Week
Shazam Encore
If you’ve got an appreciation for music, then Shazam will definitely be familiar to you. Shazam is an app/service which will identify music playing, giving you a track name, artist and often the album it came from.
Not only will Shazam Encore tell you what the music you’re listening to is, which in and of itself is a completely valuable service but it also gives you lyrics for the song as it plays. Shazam also lets you preview songs and add them into a Spotify playlist, you can also purchase tracks from Google Play or Amazon. You can also see what music is popular in your area, right down to the town you’re currently in.
Shazam has added Android Wear support to their app as well, allowing you to recognise music with just your watch – oh, and you can also get lyrics displayed as the music plays on your watch too.
There’s not only audio identification, you can also use the QR code support to scan posters, books or magazines with the Shazam logo on itto get more information about the band or service.
Google’s ‘What’s this song’ command in Google Now is handy, but Shazam adds a heap of functionality, including the Android Wear support. It’s a great deal at 20c so make sure you check it out.
Game Deal of the Week
Reckless Racing 3
From developer Pixelbite comes Reckless Racing 3, a top down racing game with all the exciting action you could want from off-road and stunt racing.
Reckless Racing 3 offers you the option to choose from 28 cars and trucks, with Career, Arcade and Single event modes where you can race 36 routes in 6 different types of environments. There’s different event types such as Gymkhana, Drift, Hot Lap and Race events and what they say is the best power slides in the world.
One big advantage of Reckless Racing 3 is the gamepad support, which is handy when you install it on your Android TV device – that’s right you can install Reckless Racing 3 on your Nexus Player or Sony Bravia TV and race to your hearts content.
As we’ve seen previously, the 20c price tag does hide some additional options to pay more, and Reckless Racing 3 is no different. There’s In-App Purchases in Reckless Racing 3, with digital goods worth between $1.11 – $20.65 per item. Still it’s not like you need to buy the IAP to have some fun.
If you’re interested in checking out Reckless Racing 3, head over to Google Play and check it out now.
My pick this week is definitely Shazam, I’ve been using it for years to dispel ear worms, and it even identified a song I’ve been bopping along to on the radio as a Justin Bieber track – who’d have thought?! Check out both deals and we’ll see you next week.
Those better not be the actual shazam screenshots
Edit: oh good they aren’t. However maybe you should think about embedding a newer video
That’s all they had
