Sony Computer Entertainment, the publisher behind a number of successful titles released on the Playstation consoles has today announced a new company will be formed to bring their titles to mobile.
The company called ForwardWorks will begin operating on the 1st of April, where it will begin transitioning properties to Android and iOS devices. The company said in the announcement post:
ForwardWorks will leverage the intellectual property of the numerous PlayStation® dedicated software titles and its gaming characters as well as the knowledge and know-how of gaming development expertise which was acquired over the years with PlayStation® business to provide gaming application optimized for smart devices including smartphones (Smart devices supporting Android and iOS) to users in Japan and Asia. The company will aim to deliver users with opportunity to casually enjoy full-fledged game titles in the new filed of the smart device market.
The change also sees Sony Computer Entertainment renamed to Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. moving forward.
Sony Computer Entertainment is the publisher behind titles like Ratchet & Clank, God of War and Gran Turismo, but at this stage, no indication of which titles will be transitioned to mobile, nor when they will appear.
