Instagram has today announced a new feature that they hope will encourage you to view more videos, by offering you suggestions of new video channels based on your favorite topics and interests.
The feature is called “Picked for You” channels and will start showing up in Explore. The channels aren’t just random videos, they’ve been grouped into channels based on interests and topics. If you’ve shown an interest previously in videos of comedians then you may get comedy related channels, likewise cooking or coffee related channels and so on.
Like so many features introduced on apps these days though, the new suggested channels in Explore will only be available in the US. Instagram has advised they will be bringing the feature to the rest of the world soon however.
This new feature is all about growing the amount of interaction and by showing you suggested videos, Instagram is hoping to really build those Monthly Active User stats that seem so important to show growth.
